Shears are actually quite useful in Minecraft, particularly when attempting to gather wool from sheep! Believe it or not, there's some other uses for this underused tool as well. We'll walk you through step-by-step on how to make shears in Minecraft with this guide.
How to create a Compass
Time needed: 5 minutes.
To make shears in Minecraft you will just need two iron bars! These are relatively easy to obtain, but you might need to do a bit of exploring.
We're going to need some iron ore, which can be found pretty much anywhere there's stone to be mined. Both caves and ravines are great places to find the ore. Any space that's opened up which gives you a lot of surface area to explore makes it easier to spot it. You also might see it in the side of a mountain or hill. If you can't find it that way, mine your way downwards, and you should eventually come across it. It's one of the more common ores you will find in the game.
Now that we have our iron ore, we're going to need to turn it into iron ingotd. This requires the use of a furnace! So, make sure you have one of those, and any fuel of your choice. Place your iron ore at the top and your fuel at the bottom of the furnace. You will need two of these to make the shears!
We've got our two iron bars, so let's just throw them in our Crafting Table or crafting area in our inventory. Put each single iron bar at a diagonal of each other to make the shears!
Now that you have some shears, you can go out and collect wool from sheep which can be used to make the all important bed! Shears can also be used to pickup items that will normally break into another material when you hit it! Things like cobwebs, dead bushes, ferns, grass, nether sprouts, leaves, tripwire, vines, and seagrass can all be harvested with shears.
